Do you like to jog with your headphones on and wish you could sing or do a little dance move while you are running? I do and I secretly do it when no one is watching. Or at least I don't think so. Well, this group is all about coming out of your jogging and singing and jogging and dancing closet... I'll have a set of speakers strapped to my back, my i pod in hand and running shoes on Sunday mornings. This experience will improve your voice projection as the breath is most natural when you run as …
The Alameda Running and Walking Club is for everyone that wants to enjoy the beauty of Alameda while walking, jogging and running. It is often hard to motivate or commit to getting outside and getting some exercise. What can make it easier and more fun is to do it with other people. Let’s all get together to have a good time! All levels are welcome to join. Any member can suggest a Meetup and if three people say they will attend then it will be scheduled and all the members will be notified. Ple …

We used to be P. A. Running Opportunities Plus. Based on feedback from the members who come to the runs, now it's Running Around The SanFranciscoBay (RATS). It's mostly running. Mostly. #1. We are run by volunteers that schedule and lead a run from time to time. That is our meetup, active volunteers and organizers. What ever organizers like to do is what we become. (Let me know if you want to try and lead a run and see if you'd like to be an Asst Organizer). #2. We plan to also host a wiki page …

This is a women's self defense course focusing on self defense techniques modified for street and home defense from attackers. Why take this course? Because you may be faced with a decision to use self defense at any given time. If you car breaks down on the side of the road & a stranger approaches you with evil intent. Or you may come home finding a burglar in your residence; hiking or jogging in a secluded trail and someone tries to cause you harm. Is this being paranoid? Paranoia is defined …

Being new to SF, I figured creating this group would be a great way to bring together cool people who share the same interest. The plan is to go for a run on Sunday mornings on a path that is central & convenient, and then go to a Brunch. We could try new brunch spots every week, of course returning to the ones we that are simply delicious :) You should join this group if you 1) enjoy running and working out, 2) enjoy food, and 3) enjoy meeting new people. You can join if you are beginner, or if …
This is a group for those who live around Lake Merritt and want to run as well with a group. It's always easiest to start a running routine when you are in a group.

It's not your basic bootcamp. At Basic Training, we take to the outdoors to find our inner strength. We jog, jump, suspend, sprint, punch, stretch and push our limits. We shed pounds and inhibitions while gaining muscle and friendships. And we do all of it while watching the sun rise (or set). http://basictrainingsf.com/
Jogging is local - It is much easier to run in your own neighborhood. Let's run after work and on weekends in our nieghborhood. The Marina offers a bunch of great runs either along the Bay or through the Presido with fantastic views. My goal is to have 2x a week runs between 4 and 6 miles at a moderate, conversational pace. Join in! Meet others in your local area to run with. Plan group runs and participate in various long and short distance running. On weekends, we will try to have brunch a …

This is a group for fit hikers. While the trails aren't dangerous, they are usually very steep. Trail shoes of some sort will make your hike easier, though hiking boots aren't typically needed. Ideally our hikes will be 1 1/2 - 3 hours long, including significant elevation gain. Ideally at least 1500'+, and be 5-11 miles long. We will hike to the summit, then where possible, and if you want to, run part or all the way back out. Everyone goes at their own pace, we don't wait for slower hikers* …
Come out and meet other local runners for great camaraderie and motivation. Some of us jog, some of us run, some of us race, but we all have fun! The key is to show up and give it a try -- the sooner you come out and join us, the sooner you will be on the road to fitness, health, and meeting lifelong running friends!
You'll get advice, help finding members, and tools to make running a Meetup Group easier.
