The new year has begun and of course with every new year, comes a host of resolutions. If one of your resolutions is to get healthier, start exercising, shed some weight, then join us on Saturday afternoons at Pelham Bay Park as we will come together and exercise for life. As some of you may know, I prefer working out outdoors more so than on the inside. I simply love nature and if it’s not too cold you will catch me at the park. Now, this isn’t a boot camp class, but a simple walk and/or jog gr …

This is a group for people who love to walk, jog, or run the steps in Morningside Park in New York City. I started this group because I love outdoor exercise and because real stair climbing is a fun, low impact way to get great cardio training. I have created various routines and workouts that include upper body training so that stair climbing can be an whole-body workout.

Anyone is invited to join (more experienced runners included, if you're happy to give the rest of us some pointers!) The group will meet on weekday mornings 2 or 3 times a week. We'll start off easy and work our way up. A casual me …

This is a group for all those in the Jersey City area that need a bit of group support and camaraderie to help shake out of the winter laziness, and take advantage of the outdoor settings we can use for exercise. I would like to try to have daily groups meeting in the parks and waterfront for a bit of mutual encouragement and friendly competition. The activities will range from calisthenics, light kettle bell routines and jogging to start, and may evolve to having a scheduled run through some of …

The New York Harriers is a competitive running team. Most of our members race a 10K between a 5:30 and 8:30 pace. However, we do not discriminate based on speed. The Harriers welcome those who want to work hard to be the best runners they can, compete for the team, and add to our team spirit by supporting teammates. The best way to check out the Harriers is by attending a workout. We strongly encourage you to do this before applying for membership. Wednesdays are the recommended workouts for fir …

Barefoot Runners NYC is a group of runners who have left their thick-soled sneakers in the dust and started running with Vibram Five Fingers, other minimal sole shoes, or totally barefoot. Maybe you've read Born to Run, or maybe you've gotten injured running and are looking for a better solution -- whatever your reason, this is the place. The body's natural stride is a healthier, more natural way to run, resulting in better running efficiency and fewer injuries. We follow a lot of Daniel Lieb …
The greatest, funnest, and best-looking group of (wannabe) runners in NYC. Well, at least 1/3 of that is true. And we can definitely guarantee fun. Come join us for a workout, a run, a bRUNch, or just come and hang out! We encourage runners of all abilities -- especially if you think you are slow -- to come join us for a fun run. Hi! This meetup is for fun, friendly people in the New york City area who are interested in walking around the city for fun, FIRST, and (and for fitness, second)!! In other words, this group is not for people looking to suit-up in hi-tech jogging outfits and high-performance walking sneaks with wristband weights and powerbars in their pockets.. This group is for people looking to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city while in the company of other people who enjoy the sights and sounds of the c …

Women in Motion! This group's mission is to: 1) encourage women of all ages, and backgrounds to run and walk their way to better health and fitness. "If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." - John Bingham Now shall I walk or shall I ride? "Ride," Pleasure said. "Walk," Joy replied. - W. Davi …
We run and sometimes dine/beer afterwards. Runs are generally in the north Brooklyn area and vary in length. You should be able to run at least 3 miles at a conversational pace (we are a chatty bunch). Come join us!
I am wondering if there are beginning runners around Harlem who runs through central park entering from the FDB circle entrance. If you are already a regular runner, please feel free to suggest date/time.
Let's face it, going to the gym is boring. Why pay high gyms fees, when you could workout with the ambient sounds of nature and meet great people while getting or staying in shape without the high costs. Our group is for anyone who needs some motivation to exercise, enjoys group fitness, loves the outdoors and is up for a great challenge while having fun. We will mainly workout in many of the beautiful parks around queens and other NYC areas. This group will focus on staying active and fit as we …

I don't know about you, but I'm in terrible shape. All those obstacle races that are so populare now (run for your lives, 5k foam fest, rugged maniac, superhero scramble, the color run, etc.) sound like a lot of fun, though. If they sound like fun to you and you'd like to run them too, why don't we a.) train together and/or b.) meet at the event? Training can be ordinary running, but we can also do things to train for the obstacles. I'm thinking rock climbing, water parks, or whatever anyone els …
